Darrens Lands End 2 John O'Groats 20th August - 31st August 2011
Hi, Im Daz, before you ask "NO" its not a mid-life crisis, I have wanted to do the End 2 End or LEJOG as some other people call it for a number of years now but to be honest i just could not get the motivation to do it, I spent 22 years and 37 days in the Army (Infantry) and after leaving in 2007 I thought thats it no more fitness and no more fitness tests yipee i thought, that was great for the first couple of years but as with everything things dont stay as you want them to stay, the knees start to creek the waistline starts to bulge out and out and the next thing its to late its happened.
I decided to get off my fat ARRSE for 2 reasons and they are in the paragraphs below, please read them and whilst I am doing this epic journey please follow me and send me messages as I go along (As long as they are nice messages) this will give me the motivation to carry on, I am riding solo so any support you can give will be fantastic, if you know anyone in Camelford in Cornwall who might have a bed for the night or if you know anyone in Fort William Scotland who again might have a bed for the night please pass on my details and and ask them to get in touch that would be fantastic. Finally if you fancy having a ride out with me please get in touch and you will be very welcome check out my routes and pick your dates. Thanks for your support.

BIRMINGHAM CHILDRENS HOSPITALGreg who I work with at Samlesbury had his very young grandson taken into hospital aged 2 weeks, the little fella was then transfered down to Birmingham where he stayed until December 2010, during this time the little fella went through countless tests and in the end had to go through a Liver transpalnt, a very traumatic 4 months for a new born baby. The little fella has had the best care and treatment at Birmingham Childrens Hospital, Greg updated us on the treatment almost on a daily basis, thankfully the little fella is on the road to making a full recovery, it wasnt only the treatment that the little fella had it was also the after care and the emotional support that the Parents, Grandparents and other family members have also recieved.

HELP FOR HEROESI was sat down one day watching the news and someone that I knew was on TV being interviewed, this person had been very badly injured in Afghanistan, his determination not to let his injuries affect him was very inspirational, and very humbling, watching what this person was achieving has inspired me to get off my fat arrse and do something about it.
Please help these 2 fantastic Charities please: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/DarrenLeen |
Pain is temporary, It may last a minute, an hour, a day, or 7 days, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever”
